Patrick has been responsible for the success of several long term waste research projects – from local studies of Seattle and King County’s waste, recycling, and composting to multi-faceted studies of business, institutional, and residential wastes across several U.S. states. Recently, Patrick managed a project for the Seattle Central Community College which included a full audit of the trash, recycling, and food waste streams and provided recommendations for streamlining the processes and improving the physical spaces where campus wide diversion occurs. Currently he is managing waste characterization projects for the states of Washington and Connecticut as well as for the City of Santa Barbara. Having resided in Upstate New York, the rural Midwest, the Deep South, Southern California, and now the Pacific Northwest, Patrick adds a diverse and unique set of insights to a variety of Cascadia projects. Patrick holds a B.S. in biology from the University of Montevallo. In his spare time, Patrick writes for the waste travel blog, “Have Trash, Will Travel.”
