Katie has over 13 years experience training volunteers, businesses, property managers, community members, and students of all ages. Throughout the Northwest, Katie is known for her dynamic and engaging presentation style with an emphasis on interactive activities; she excels in making complex ideas relevant and easy to understand. Katie has also conducted waste audits and provided technical assistance to a broad range of commercial clients, such as Children’s Hospital, Regence, and the Seattle Art Institute, on how to successfully and efficiently increase recycling and composting. In addition, Katie has taught workshops on integrated pest management, the importance of water quality, reducing use of hazardous materials, sustainability, and climate action. Katie has been active on the Washington State Recycling Association conference planning committee and the Passages Northwest benefit committee. Katie holds degrees from Indiana University and the University of Oregon. In her free time, she enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee and is moving into a 1905 house that she saved from demolition!
