Gwen Vernon, Senior Associate, has been with Cascadia since 1999. She leads a range of sustainability education, training, and outreach efforts, with particular emphasis on solid waste, hazardous waste, stormwater, toxics reduction, and pesticide reduction. With over 18 years providing environmental technical assistance and education, Gwen knows how to connect with and motivate businesses and communities on such topics as sustainable landscaping, toxic product alternatives, waste prevention, and resource stewardship. Her work has included managing education programs for landscape professionals; reaching out to non-English-speaking businesses; initiating programs with multicultural communities; running neighborhood workshops and events; and training audiences from professionals to schoolchildren on natural yard care, soil building, and sustainability. Gwen speaks fluent Spanish, is on the board of the Washington Toxics Coalition, and is a certified Master Gardener. She holds an MEd and a BA in Spanish.
