Shaina coordinates an array of educational programs to help clients use outreach and education to meet their waste and recycling goals. She plans, coordinates, trains, and helps manage the King County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) program, orchestrating the efforts of over 200 active volunteers who have completed the MRC training on waste reduction, recycling, household hazardous wastes, natural yard care, composting, and the climate change connection to solid waste issues. Shaina also helps design and organize workshops for landscape professionals, provides sustainability assistance to businesses, and creates environmental education resources for K-12 teachers. Before joining Cascadia, Shaina designed and implemented environmental education programs for students, led community restoration efforts, and assisted in fund development. In her spare time, she plays sports, backpacks, travels, and serves on the University of Washington Program on the Environment Alumni Advisory Board. Shaina holds a BA in Environmental Studies with a focus on Ecology and Conservation from the University of Washington. Shaina is a native to the Puget Sound region.
