FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 27, 2015 (Seattle, WA) – Building on its commitment to provide a more sustainable future for all, Cascadia Consulting Group, a consulting firm specializing in innovative and effective solutions to environmental challenges, announced the appointment of Kimberley Powe as its Social Equity and Inclusion Director.
Kim has a long history of working with underserved communities to create a more sustainable and economically sound future. Prior to joining Cascadia, she worked as the Director of Multnomah County’s Office of Sustainability, where she focused the Office’s efforts on applying a social equity lens to the County’s sustainability policies and programs, both with internal and external stakeholders. Past positions with Mercy Corps in New Orleans, Portland’s Bureau of Housing and Community Development, and the Peace Corps have provided Kim with a unique and well-rounded perspective on sustainability and social justice issues.
“Kim’s expertise developing programs for diverse populations will ensure that Cascadia is able to provide truly equitable service offerings to our clients, and the customers and communities they serve,” said Francis Icasiano, CEO. “We are excited to have Kim on board, both because equity is a core value of Cascadia’s and because we know that our communities and opportunities are changing. Cascadia is committed to making the changes internally that will allow us to tackle these issues for our clients confidently and with integrity.”
Kim looks forward to facilitating change within Cascadia and as an agent of the environmental movement at large. “Cascadia is taking the opportunity to better serve our community and clients by initiating an in-depth dive into social equity and inclusion,” said Powe. “We are making a commitment to changing the way we do business, and investing in our people to not only be better consultants, but better friends and neighbors.”
