Skokomish Watershed Road Map to Recovery
Client: Skokomish Tribe
The Skokomish Tribe has made significant strides toward planning for the recovery of Chinook salmon populations in the Skokomish River, and for improving the health of the river itself. In addition to co-authoring a Chinook Salmon Recovery Plan, the Tribe recently signed an agreement with the City of Tacoma on how to mitigate the effects of the Cushman Dam on the river and its salmon populations, and is supporting a General Investigation Study with the US Army Corps of Engineers. The Tribe retained Cascadia to create a document that shows how these efforts come together to restore the health of the watershed and its salmon. We created a comprehensive implementation road map which is both technically accurate, and describes clearly and concisely the Tribe’s plan for recovering the Skokomish River. In addition, we are completing an Executive Summary which will be an important communication tool for the Tribe to use with community members, potential partners, and potential funders.
