Climate Change Comprehensive Plan
Client: Washington State Department of Ecology
Cascadia worked closely with the Department of Ecology and others to manage production of the state’s 2008 comprehensive plan on climate change for the Governor and Legislature. As required under state law (E2SHB 2815), the report presents Washington’s efforts currently underway to address climate change, summarizes the “most promising” strategies that its Climate Action Team identified for the Legislature to consider in 2009, and highlights the state’s efforts as part of the Western Climate Initiative. Cascadia coordinated the production process, including extensive review and editing of all sections to improve clarity and meet the Governor’s Plain Talk standards, compilation of all sections, and final layout using Ecology’s standard report template. The report is intended to help guide legislative action in 2009, including strategies to create jobs and stimulate the economy while reducing emissions.

Cascadia’s GHG footprint calculator has been a cornerstone of our work with businesses. The SCP has been told that we have one of the best tools in the country for business use, due to its transparency (all sources and calculations are cited), flexibility (pre-loaded information is available if businesses don’t have access to specific data), and ease-of-use (it’s good even for beginners—there’s a checklist for “data needed” and tips on where to find it).
