Climate and Energy

Custom Footprint Calculator & Training
Client: Kansas City Chamber of Commerce
The Climate Protection Partnership is a voluntary program sponsored by the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce to encourage local businesses to measure and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.  To this end, Cascadia customized the Seattle footprint calculator with relevant Kansas City-specific information related to transportation systems and energy sources. Cascadia staff trained over 50 member businesses to use the calculator to measure and interpret their emissions.  Today there are over 200 participating Climate Protection Partners, including: American Airlines, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Deloitte & Touche, Hallmark Cards, and Microsoft.

Cascadia’s GHG footprint calculator has been a cornerstone of our work with businesses. The SCP has been told that we have one of the best tools in the country for business use, due to its transparency (all sources and calculations are cited), flexibility (pre-loaded information is available if businesses don’t have access to specific data), and ease-of-use (it’s good even for beginners—there’s a checklist for “data needed” and tips on where to find it).
