Energy Efficiency for Existing Buildings
Client: Seattle, WA
Cascadia and its partners worked to identify and analyze policy options for promoting energy efficiency and green building practices throughout the City of Seattle. Project work included researching and developing a menu of creative policy actions and attractive fiscal incentives that could be implemented within the framework of existing utility conservation programs. Many of the policy options developed by Cascadia have now been adopted by the Mayor and beginning in 2010 the City of Seattle will implement energy measurement and disclosure requirements for commercial and multi family building stock. Cascadia’s policy analysis also served as a catalyst in the development of a robust home energy audit program and a residential loan program for home energy efficiency improvements.

I was very pleased with the experience we had recently working with Cascadia to develop our carbon inventory and finalize our sustainable action guide. It’s a very daunting task to begin the process of changing the way we do business and measure our success so to have the combination of expertise and patience that you brought to the effort really made it enjoyable. I look forward to continuing to work with Cascadia as BNBuilders moves farther and farther along in this process.
