Protection Assessment Scope Development
Client: San Juan Initiative
The San Juan Initiative is a multi-stakeholder group working to improve protection of nearshore and upland habitats in San Juan County. Initiative staff and Shared Strategy for Puget Sound retained Cascadia in 2007 to help develop a detailed scope of work for Phase 2 of the Initiative. The goal of Phase 2 is to understand what habitats are remaining in San Juan County, determine what changes are happening on the landscape, and identify the programs that are protecting habitats or allowing continued habitat degradation in the county. Cascadia gathered and synthesized information about other efforts in the watershed, interviewed several stakeholders, and worked very closely with the client to prepare an initial scope of work for this project in a very short timeframe.

Cascadia writes plans that we use, that don’t sit idly on a shelf. Their staff has a clear understanding of the material, can communicate it effectively and knows the right questions to ask. They are fast, efficient and on budget and stick to their tasks. If we had to pick our consultant all over again, it would be Cascadia.
