"Make it a Straight Flush"

Location: Washington

Seattle Public Utilities chose Cascadia to help them decrease the amount of trash flushed down the toilet. The resulting Make It a Straight Flush outreach campaign was designed to reach businesses and residents in the University Village and Seward Park neighborhoods, where sewer facilities have been consistently plagued by trash-related bockages.

Our team began by developing an outreach plan with tailored messaging and communication strategies for the chosen pump station areas. We also developed a campaign theme and a toolkit for outreach staff to use with target businesses and residents. With outreach tools in hand, a team of Cascadians conducted onsite visits to educate nearly 100 businesses in both neighborhoods; they will continue to visit businesses and residents through 2015 and adjust engagement strategies and materials for new audiences as needed.

Cascadia is very organized; their work product is thorough. I appreciated their flexibility and responsiveness. I just appreciated their ability to take our interests and put them into a tangible work product and a plan. The thoroughness of their work really led to a product that was very relevant to us and that we still use in our work. As a whole, the firm seems to be much more comfortable with field work than other consultants.
