Cascadia implements Sound Transit’s ongoing environmental and sustainability programs, overseeing 17 subcontractors to efficiently meet all of the agency’s needs. As part of this ambitious program, Cascadia leads work in sustainability strategic planning, facilitation, and organizational change. Current efforts include updating Sound Transit’s agency-wide Sustainability Plan and annual inventory, developing strategies for climate adaptation and renewable energy, and implementing greener construction practices. For the Sustainability Plan, our team helped Sound Transit evaluate and revise its long-term targets, near-term initiatives, and metrics to address the agency’s most significant sustainability opportunities and align with regional strategies and goals. Cascadia is now evaluating the costs and benefits of five renewable energy scenarios as part of Sound Transit’s renewables strategy.
