Charlie Scott, Senior Principal and co-founder of Cascadia, has more than 30 years of experience in resource management consulting, including the management of major solid waste and recycling research, feasibility, planning, and policy development efforts. Charlie has played a key role in designing and/or implementing more than 100 waste characterization studies nationwide, including statewide studies for California, Washington, Delaware, Georgia, Oregon, and Wisconsin, and metropolitan studies for Seattle, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, and Honolulu. Private-sector clients for whom Charlie has conducted materials management research include Waste Management and Republic Services, as well as Weyerhaeuser, TetraPak, Starbucks, and PACCAR. Charlie is a past President of the Washington State Recycling Association (WSRA), which represents Washington's recyclers and haulers, and served on the WSRA/Washington Department of Ecology committee to improve recycling rate calculation methodology as well as the Washington Climate Action Team’s Beyond Waste Implementation working group. Charlie also supported the California Integrated Waste Management Board working group for establishing statewide waste characterization standards. Charlie has an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Washington and a B.A. in Economics from Denison University.
