Marie Novak supports climate and sustainability policy and planning projects at Cascadia through research, analysis, and writing. She brings experience in environmental and sustainability policy analysis, performance measurement and reporting, as well as experience with community engagement on social and environmental programs in regional and international settings. Prior to Cascadia, she worked at the City of Seattle in the Office of Sustainability & Environment where she completed a city-wide sustainability assessment and supported the mayor’s initiative to advance equity in the city’s environmental work. Marie has an MPA from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs with a certificate in Environmental Management, as well as a BA in Economics and International Affairs from Trinity University. She also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Azerbaijan where she taught English and implemented projects focused on youth development and women’s empowerment. Having grown up in San Antonio, Marie especially enjoys the mild summers and greenery of the Pacific Northwest.
