Thanks so much...for Cascadia's support, drive, consistency to getting the job done and done right, attention to detail, professionalism, energy, moxie, personality, sense of humor, and all you have done for our team, too!
Cascadia has a reputation for being the go-to team for doing waste audits. They have been everywhere, looking at a community’s garbage. They’re experts at splicing and dicing it and explaining what you see under the microscope. They have a phenomenal reputation for doing high-caliber work and being experts in the field.
The city has been well served by our involvement with the Cascadia team—definitely worth the time and effort and money. They got us going with an exciting plan: how we can embrace clean energy, green solutions to help support the city’s economic development strategies.
“Cascadia was very open to listening to what we had to say. They were responsive to the things that we wanted to emphasize. They put out a good project—a polished, well thought-out product.”
Working with Cascadia was excellent from the very beginning to the very end. They kept up with what was going on, they communicated with me when there were problems, and they proposed solutions. Wrapping up the project—I couldn’t believe it. The report was on target.
Cascadia has really good people who are genuinely engaged in a project. It’s not just about doing a job for them—they’re genuinely passionate and care about environmental issues. I can count on them and they make it easy to do so.
"I wanted to provide some specific feedback on your team. They were terrific to work with. I was so impressed with their thoroughness, excellent coordination, and ability to tailor the presentation to the federal audience and the multiple locations. They were also up for anything--doing a waste sort in a conference room via videoconferencing! I’m sure this is not a traditional request, but they made it work. The attendees were very engaged and I sincerely believe that this training will result in on the ground improvements."
The founding partners ... place such a high value on work-life balance that the term appears in Cascadia’s mission statement.
Seattle Met magazine
Cascadia is very organized; their work product is thorough. I appreciated their flexibility and responsiveness. I just appreciated their ability to take our interests and put them into a tangible work product and a plan. The thoroughness of their work really led to a product that was very relevant to us and that we still use in our work. As a whole, the firm seems to be much more comfortable with field work than other consultants.
"I was very pleased with the experience we had recently working with Cascadia to develop our carbon inventory and finalize our sustainable action guide. It’s a very daunting task to begin the process of changing the way we do business and measure our success so to have the combination of expertise and patience that you brought to the effort really made it enjoyable. I look forward to continuing to work with Cascadia as BNBuilders moves farther and farther along in this process."
Cascadia brought some very innovative, original thinking to the project and to the issue that we were dealing with. They bring their own unique experiences and skills and a willingness to apply them to your needs and your issues.
I love working at a place where you can be friends with your coworkers.
It’s really all about the community here.
The flexibility allows me to balance my personal and professional goals.
I was attracted by the mission, but joined—and stayed—for the people.
I get to work on interesting, innovative projects… and produce something of real value.
Cascadia is an amazing balance between professional and playful, formal and informal.
Cascadia’s origins can be traced to a small, unassuming pizza parlor in Downtown Seattle, where Charlie Scott and Marc Daudon met over a slice. At the time, Charlie was with a management consulting firm working on waste characterization studies, and Marc, an experienced environmental consultant who was new to town, was looking for what opportunity Seattle might serve up next. It wasn’t long before the two decided to build something new together, forming Cascadia Consulting Group in March 1993.
Throughout the 1990s, Cascadia created successful waste reduction and recycling policies and programs across the West Coast while building trusted relationships with clients. Starting in 2000, Cascadia broadened its core service offerings to include sustainability planning, natural resource management, and climate resilience strategies.
Over 20 years later, Cascadia fittingly returned to its roots by celebrating Cascadia's ownership transfer with a pizza party. On November 6, 2015, Marc and Charlie transferred majority ownership of the company to long-standing senior management, ushering in a second generation of leadership by Co-Presidents Ruth Bell and Amity Lumper. Under this new ownership, Cascadia is now 51% women-owned. The two owner-managers have been with the company for more than a decade and have served on the Executive Management Team since 2014; they collectively oversee strategies related to our mission and vision, business development, and long-term growth.
